Tulip Tree
Liriodendron tulipifera
The tulip tree, or tulip poplar, is the tallest deciduous tree east of the Mississippi. Despite being a fast-growing tree, the tulip poplar produces valuable wood. It is a popular specimen tree due to its beautiful tulip-like flowers and golden fall foliage. Tulip poplar prefers rich, moist soils, and is very unlikely to be negatively affected by insects or disease.
