Eastern Redbud
Cercis canadensis
Eastern redbud is a large flowering shrub with brilliant pink flowers. It is prized as an ornamental, but the seeds and flowers are edible to both humans and wildlife, including bobwhite and quail. Many pollinators visit redbud shrubs for nectar. It tolerates a wide range of pH, light, temperature, and drought, but prefers moist well- drained soils.
