Eastern Larch Larix laricina

The eastern larch, or tamarack, is a deciduous conifer which loses its clusters of needle-like leaves every autumn in a beautiful yellow show of color. These trees thrive in wetland sites and produce wood that is tough and resistant to rot. Eastern larch provides food and nesting to porcupine, hares, squirrel, grouse, and various seed eating songbirds.
