The Eastern Bluebird is a migratory songbird native to the eastern half of the US. It is the state bird of New York and an important cultural symbol of happiness and Spring's coming. Invasive starlings and sparrows introduced via European colonization as well as pesticide use and domesticated cats have damaged Eastern Bluebird numbers.
