Bat Box
Native bats play an incredibly important part of our ecosystem, but are under threat from habitat destruction, wind turbines, and disease. When safely installed, bat boxes can play a crucial role in conservation efforts protecting these fascinating and gentle flying mammals. Providing bats on your property a happy habitat helps to limit nuisance insects - one bat can eat up to 3,000 insects per night. Please see the fact sheets below for proper installation and care of your new bat box, so you can provide a safe home to some of our threatened native bats such as the little brown bat, the big brown bat, and the northern long-eared bat.
